The True Heroes
of the land

Our Shared Mission

We're building something simple but profound: a real connection between Jewish women everywhere and the women who farm our Holy land. These farmers have the unique privilege and responsibility of keeping Shmitah and the mitzvot tluyot ba'aretz - mitzvot that most of us will never have the opportunity to observe. By connecting through what unites all Jewish women and our shared values and traditions - we create a circle where everyone gives and everyone receives.

They keep these mitzvot on behalf of all of us; we stand with them through the challenges. It's a beautiful exchange - different roles, one people, bound together through mutual care and shared purpose. Together we're strengthening each other as Jewish women, mothers, and keepers of our heritage.

In Her Hands

The women of Shmitah are the unwavering pillars behind the heroes. They are the ones who hold their families and homes together with radical faith, not just during the Shmitah year, but through all seven, upholding the intricate laws of the land like terumot and ma'asrot with every harvest. It is their strength that allows their husbands to stand guard on Israel's borders and their devotion that nourishes the soul of our nation. These women do not just observe a mitzvah; they live it, ensuring that the sacred connection between the Jewish people and our land remains unbroken, protecting our future spiritually and physically.

Connect With The Cause

Membership transforms how you experience this community. Instead of watching from a distance, you become part of something larger - a living network of Jewish women connected across continents through shared purpose and genuine relationship. You're not just supporting the farmers who keep these mitzvot; you're building real bonds with them, person to person, family to family.

It's connection on a deeper level, where you feel truly part of their journey and they become part of yours. This isn't about casual interest - it's about belonging to something meaningful that enriches your life while strengthening theirs. The circle is forming now. Step in and become a member today.

FAQs

What is Nshei?
image

Nshei Keren Hashviis is the worldwide women's division of Keren Hashviis. Our mission is to support the wives and families of Israeli farmers who heroically observe the mitzvah of Shmitah. While Keren Hashviis provides financial assistance for farm-related expenses, Nshei Keren Hashviis focuses on the household and emotional needs of these families, recognizing the vital role the farmers' wives play in their husband's commitment to Shmitah.

Why is a separate fund for women and families necessary?
image

People sometimes assume that if you're not farming, you're not spending. The reality is very different. During Shmitah, the expenses don't stop — they just change. Foreign workers on visas must still be paid their full salaries. The land still has costs. Loans taken out to keep the farm running — especially after years of COVID and the devastating impact of October 7th and the ongoing war — still need to be repaid. Maintaining the farm through a fallow year is a financial undertaking in itself.

Keren Hashviis covers those farm-level expenses. But nothing is left for the family living above that farm. Nshei exists for her — the farmer's wife managing a household with zero income, keeping her family afloat while her husband keeps his commitment to H'shem. Behind every farmer keeping Shmitah is a woman holding everything together. That is who we are here for.

I don't live in Israel. Why should I support Israeli farmers?
image

Because Eretz Yisrael belongs to all of us. Every Jew, wherever they live, dreams of walking through the Old City, davening at the Kotel, breathing the air of our holy land. That connection doesn't require an Israeli address — it is written into our souls.

And the Torah is clear: Shmitah observance is one of the mitzvos that keeps the land in Jewish hands. When these farmers let their fields rest in full faith and trust, they are not just keeping a personal mitzvah — they are holding Eretz Yisrael for all of us. For you, your children, and every Jew who will one day stand at the Kotel and feel they are home.

Supporting them is not charity. It is claiming your share in the land, and in the bracha that comes with it.

What kind of events does Nshei Keren Hashviis hold?
image

Nshei brings women together in ways that create real, lasting connection. Our events range from community gatherings and parlor meetings in cities around the world, to live Zoom events where the farmers themselves join in directly — putting a face, a voice, and a story to the mission. For those who want to go deeper, we organize trips to Israel — including visits to the farms themselves, where you can meet the families face to face, hear their stories firsthand, and receive a personal bracha from a farmer's wife.

These are not lectures. They are encounters. Women leave with a relationship — a family they know, a story they carry with them.

How can I get involved beyond donating?
image

The most powerful thing you can do right now is bring Nshei into your community. Host a local event. Share our content. Introduce us to your women's group, your shul, your friends. We are building a worldwide family of women who know and care about these farming families — and that starts with you opening the door in your corner of the world.

Is my donation tax-deductible?
image

Yes. Nshei Keren Hashviis is a registered nonprofit in the United States and Israel, and donations are tax-deductible in both countries. We are currently working to establish the same status in Canada and Europe — stay tuned.
